Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest core branches of Engineering. This branch of engineering deals with design, manufacturing and operation of machinery. It uses concepts of engineering, physics, and material science for design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of mechanical system. This branch of engineering touches our day to day lives directly or indirectly. From household equipments like washing machine and grinders to buses and trains that we use for transportation, mechanical engineering and machines are involved in one way or the other.
With the development in technology, new topics have also been introduced, like-CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drawing), nanotechnology, mechatronics etc.
The Department contributes to the interdisciplinary academic and research activity of the institute. It undertakes industrial consultancy work as a part of its interaction with industry and also organise seminars / symposia for professional interaction.
